Stylish stars flocked to Paris last week to take in the spring 2023 menswear shows, including David Beckham, Naomi Campbell, and Russell Westbrook. The American basketball player is known for his killer personal style outside the court, particularly his suits. But Westbrook wasn’t in town solely to browse the new clothes and accessories (though he did do that, and attend shows like Dior and Louis Vuitton). Westbrook also hosted market appointments for his very own apparel brand, titled Honor the Gift, and he invited Vogue along for the ride throughout his eventful week.
Westbrook kicked things off by hosting friends and press at his Honor the Gift showroom, located in the trendy Marais neighborhood. “The Honor the Gift spring 2023 collection is inspired by Black labor in the 1800s, so we wanted to use that inspiration while creating the showroom experience,” Westbrook says. “I loved the use of raw cotton and dried leaves throughout the space to accent the pieces in the collection.” After previewing some of the new pieces—which range from utility vests to hoodies—Westbrook even managed to squeeze in some time for basketball, before continuing on with more fashion shows. “Even though I am always very busy during Fashion Week, I always find a gym to work out at,” he says.
Westbrook proceeded to sit front row at some of the week’s buzziest menswear shows. The Louis Vuitton collection was a top pick, he says. “Kendrick Lamar is one of my favorite artists and he performed during the show,” says Westbrook. “It was great to see L.V. incorporate a beautiful tribute to Virgil [Abloh] into this show, and to see all of the looks from the new collection.” Unsurprisingly, the fashion-forward star slipped into some stellar front-row fits for each presentation he attended—so be sure to scroll through below to see how Westbrook dressed up for Paris Fashion Week.
