FOOD & DRINK: Lobster roll dinner to benefit MACC | Food And

MACC Charities will have a lobster roll fundraiser Saturday, June 25, by advance order.

Pick up will be between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the MACC Community Kitchen, 466 Main St., Manchester. The meal comes with chips and fixings.

Recipe Readers Cookbook Club

Manchester Public Library hosts a Recipe Readers Cookbook Club that meets monthly Saturday afternoons from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.

Each month a theme, author, or cookbook is chosen. Participants are asked to choose one recipe from the book and come to the program with dish in hand, ready to discuss their experience. Dishes should arrive fully prepared and ready to share.

The next meeting is July 16. The cookbook selection is “My Perfect Pantry” by Geoffrey Zakarian.

Registration is required.

• The Manchester Public Library will sponsor a program on the health benefits of seasonal fruit on Thursday, July 21, at 6 p.m. at the Whiton Branch, 100 North Main St.

Tracey Luciani, a registered dietitian at the DeQuattro Cancer Center in Manchester will present the free program.

Recipes will be provided.

In addition, there will be a booth with details about the Spruce Street Farmers Market, including which local produce and other items are available for purchase on market nights.

This program is the first in a two-part series on seasonal produce. A separate session on seasonal vegetables will be held Thursday, Aug. 25, at 6 p.m. at the Whiton Branch.

The Riverfront Food Truck Festival, three days of outdoor dining, live music, and ConnectiCon costume watching will be held Thursday through Saturday, July 14-16, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Mortensen Riverfront Plaza, 300 Columbus Boulevard, Hartford.

• Taste of the Caribbean, with authentic Caribbean cuisine, island beverages, costumes and dance, and island rhythms will be held Aug. 6 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Mortensen Riverfront Plaza.
