Correction: an earlier version of this story misstated that Filip Forsberg is Swiss, not Swedish.
Nashville Predators winger Filip Forsberg married country music artist Erin Alvey at her family’s French estate Saturday, celebrating with friends and family from around the world.
Guests gathered at Dunderry Castle, Alvey’s family’s château in the Centre-Val de Loire region of France, for the ceremony and reception.
“An unbelievable day and night from start to finish, we really couldn’t have asked for a more perfect wedding day,” Forsberg told People Magazine. “All of our friends and family having the best time together, Erin more beautiful than ever before, just an incredible time.”
The wedding included nods to Alvey’s Irish heritage and Forsberg’s Swedish roots. In addition to performing traditional Irish ceremonies, the bride and groom hired a Swedish DJ, and their reception featured a table full of Swedish sweets.
Alvey grew up visiting the castle with her family, which she said made the ceremony particularly nostalgic for her.
“It was honestly surreal to have all of our loved ones travel all the way to France from over eight different countries to gather here in our little piece of heaven,” Alvey told People. “For me, it was particularly special to have grown up as a little girl playing on the same steps that I was lucky enough to marry my best friend on today.”

The reception featured a custom cocktail named “The Filthy,” a nod to Forsberg’s style of play on the ice.
Forsberg, 27, recently signed an eight-year contract extension with the Predators worth $68 million. He said after signing that he plans to finish his career in Nashville, the city where he met Alvey.
“It means a lot that I’ve only played for this franchise,” Forsberg said on July 11, “and now it looks like that would be the plan for the rest of my career.”
Through months of contract negotiations, Forsberg made it his priority to stay in Nashville, the city where he’s played his entire 10-year NHL career and is the franchise’s all-time leading scorer.
Alvey, 28, is known best for her song “Easy to Love.” Other notable songs include “Bulloch County Line,” “Sending Love From Yesterday” and “Any Other Heart.”
